Communities & Human Rights
Human Rights & Security
Respect for Human Rights is central to the way we operate. We work to prevent harm, strengthen our systems to respect people’s human rights and foster trust with communities and workers.
Human Rights are embedded in all our activities and guide our value creation process. Our Human Rights approach aligns with the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights and the Voluntary Principles on Security and Human Rights.
In 2025, we initiated comprehensive Human Rights due diligence, including gap analysis and Human Rights Impact Assessments.
Assessments on the implementation of the VPs were conducted in both TZ Mine and Gurupi project to support the improvement of our security practices while respecting human rights.
Prevention of modern slavery is also central to us and we comply with Canada's Fighting Against Forced Labour and Child Labour in Supply Chains Act.
Community Development
We see communities as long-term partners. Our goal is to build shared value by investing in education, health, infrastructure, and programs that support local aspirations
Across our three assets we have Social Investment Committees in place to discuss projects and proposals from local communities for their own development projects.
Stakeholder Engagement
At GMIN we believe that transparent and ongoing dialogue is essential to building a trust-based relationship.
Through structured and culturally appropriate mechanisms, we meaningfully engage with stakeholders to ensure their voices are heard and feedback is incorporated in our operational decision-making processes.
- Tocantinzinho: Relationship Portal operational with quarterly community meetings
- Oko: Formal Multi-Stakeholder Working Group (MSWG) established with quarterly meetings. One community office located in Bartica.
- Gurupi: Regular engagement and four community centers located in the project area (Chega Tudo, Cipoeiro, Jibóia and Centro Novo).
Grievance Mechanism
Every voice matters. Effective grievance mechanisms are fully implemented in our three different assets to ensure concerns are heard and addressed promptly.
From whistleblower, online portal and offices located in the communities, our channels are designed to be accessible, confidential, and responsive.
