Care for Our People
Health & Safety Approach and Commitment
The health and safety of our employees, contractors, and stakeholders are central to our operations. We maintain a comprehensive Occupational Health and Safety Management System that integrates key operational programs into a unified framework, ensuring regulatory compliance and operational risk mitigation.
Our safety culture is built on continuous training, active employee engagement, and shared responsibility in incident prevention. We provide comprehensive medical care through on-site clinics and implement well-being programs that address the unique challenges of remote mining operations.
Safety Training & Initiatives
- Daily Safety Dialogues (DDS) across all operations
- Monthly health campaigns covering vaccination, STI prevention, and substance abuse awareness
- Comprehensive emergency response protocols
- Golden Rules for Safety program for high-risk activities
Local Employment, D&I and Development
We believe mining should create opportunities for local people — building skills, strengthening regional economies, and opening doors that remain long after the mine’s life.
In 2024, we exceeded our 40% local hiring target at TZ Mine, achieving:
- 67.1% of the workforce from Itaituba and surrounding municipalities.
- 81% of employees from the state of Pará.
- 339 new hires in 2024 with strong local prioritization.
- 1,847 participants trained through development programs.
- Ongoing initiatives to promote greater gender representation and inclusion.
